About the Role
We’re recruiting for an experienced Specification Manager to lead engagement and early-stage design influence within the UK residential construction sector – working closely with housebuilders, architects, engineers, and offsite manufacturers.
This is a strategic and commercially focused role, ideal for someone with a strong understanding of housebuilding, structural systems, and specification-led sales. You’ll act as the link between commercial, technical, and product teams – identifying opportunities, building relationships, and ensuring solutions are embedded early in the design process.
With a focus on structural connectors and offsite construction solutions, this role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to product innovation and market growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage long-term relationships with housebuilders, architects, engineers, and offsite partners.
- Influence early-stage design decisions to secure product specification.
- Identify commercial opportunities through frameworks, partnerships, and agreements.
- Act as a trusted advisor on buildability, innovation, and technical solutions across structural systems.
- Gather customer insights to inform product development and strategic direction.
- Conduct structured discovery to understand market needs and identify gaps.
- Collaborate with product teams to assess and prioritise new ideas.
- Provide market intelligence and competitor insights to support growth plans.
- Represent the business at industry events, forums, and technical discussions.
Candidate Profile
- Strong understanding of the residential construction sector and specification processes.
- Proven experience influencing specifiers and managing design-stage engagement.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to translate insights into commercial actions.
- Comfortable working remotely and managing a national travel schedule.
- Proactive, curious, and highly collaborative approach.
- Background in technical sales, design coordination, or product management.
- HNC or equivalent in Structural, Civil, or Building Engineering (desirable).
