Job Title: Managing Director / Sales Director – Timber & Packaging

Salary: £100,000 – £120,000 (dependent on experience) + Performance Bonus

About the Role

We are working exclusively with a long-established manufacturing business to appoint a proven commercial leader at either Managing Director or Sales Director level.

This is a pivotal appointment, responsible for setting and driving the commercial strategy, leading high-value client relationships, and ensuring sustainable business growth in a highly competitive, commodity-led market.

The successful candidate will combine strong leadership with deep industry knowledge of timber, packaging, or related manufacturing sectors. They will be comfortable owning board-level responsibility, growing revenue streams, and shaping long-term business strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial and sales strategy, ensuring sustainable business growth.
  • Drive new business development while strengthening existing customer partnerships.
  • Provide strong, visible leadership across the organisation, building a performance-driven culture.
  • Oversee P&L responsibility, budgeting, and financial performance.
  • Identify new opportunities within timber, packaging, and commodity-led markets.
  • Work closely with procurement, operations, and finance to align business goals.
  • Represent the company externally with key customers, suppliers, and industry bodies.
  • Report directly to the Board and take a lead role in strategic decision-making.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven track record as an MD, Sales Director, or Commercial Director within timber, packaging, or manufacturing.
  • Strong leadership background, with the ability to inspire and develop teams.
  • Demonstrable success in delivering significant revenue growth and margin improvement.
  • Excellent commercial acumen with strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Deep understanding of commodity-led markets and supply chain complexities.
  • Confident, strategic thinker who thrives in an autonomous leadership role.
