Job Title: Finance Officer
Location: Crawley (Office-Based, 5 Days Per Week)
Salary: £30,000–£35,000 per annum

About the Role

We are excited to be recruiting for a Finance Officer to join a growing team in Crawley. This varied role combines finance operations, general administration, and bookkeeping, offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to the smooth running of a dynamic organisation.

The ideal candidate will have experience with finance software, a keen eye for detail, and a proactive approach to managing both financial and administrative tasks. An AAT qualification is desirable but not essential for candidates with relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll & Financial Processing

  • Process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies.
  • Manage the purchase ledger, including coding and posting invoices, supplier reconciliations, and preparing payment runs.
  • Maintain accurate bookkeeping records, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and accounts management.
  • Monitor accounts payable and receivable, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.

Accounting & Reporting

  • Support month-end processes and assist with the preparation of management accounts.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with financial reporting and ensure compliance with internal controls and procedures.

Administration & Office Support

  • Provide general administrative support including document management, correspondence, and record maintenance.
  • Ensure finance and administrative records are organised, accurate, and up to date.
  • Support wider business operations through effective administration and coordination.

Process Improvement & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve financial processes and efficiencies.
  • Support adherence to company policies and financial procedures.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of finance and administration functions.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience in payroll, purchase ledger, bookkeeping, and general administration.
  • Proficiency in finance software such as Sage, Xero, or similar systems is essential.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage financial and administrative tasks accurately.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to problem-solving and team collaboration.
  • AAT qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong communication skills and a professional approach.
  • Confident working independently and as part of a team.
